STUDENT NEWS
Our high school and 8th grade students officially welcomed our newest group of 6th grade Determined To Succeed students at our 2nd Annual Holiday Bowling party. We split the bowling teams between grades and staff for a very competitive, fun, spirited celebration. Our younger students literally stood in awe at the tales the seniors spun of their college application, test prep and the academic load that they have carried for the last 18 months. It reinforced for us that there are no better Role Models for our students than our students themselves!
College Applications and More
Our high school seniors continue to work 24/7 even though they took their last college entrance exams in November & December AND have submitted all of their college applications. Collectively, our seniors applied to over 100 colleges and universities located all over the country! The college application process is exciting and incredibly challenging. To date, our students have been accepted to many Cal States and are waiting to hear from the UCs and private colleges in April. We are proud to announce that 4 of our seniors made it to the semi-final round of the Posse Scholars competition: Ivan, Lizardo, Leslie & Victoria and Lizardo made it to the final round! There were 2400 high school seniors from all over Southern California vying for 80 Scholar spots.
In addition to the blood, sweat and tears that our students poured into completing their prep tests, classes and applications, special thanks go to our **College Counselors: Mimi Zolla Neandross and Peggy Stabile and co-founder Sara Hahn who spent countless hours working with our students to complete their applications.

~Our Paul Revere 8th grade students got off to a strong start to their last year of Middle School! Their rigorous course load is challenging as they prepare themselves for the intensity of High School. We added a demanding math component, Mathnasium to our twice a week after school study sessions to solidify and bolster their math capabilities. Haley Fisher kicked off her 2nd year leading our monthly Creative Writing Workshop and surprised the students with a special guest writer, our co-founder Hank Azaria!
~Our Palms Middle School 6th grade students have made a smooth transition from elementary school to middle school, changing classes and the demands of Determined To Succeed! They have been introduced to the magic of Mathnasium and love it. In January, they began monthly writing workshops lead by LMU Graduate students that will parallel the California 6th grade standards. Their energy and enthusiasm is infectious.
