The DTS program is guided by our unique Inside Out Principle. Our work begins within each individual student and expands outward. By supporting a healthy body and mind, nurturing family engagement, creating a strong DTS peer and mentor community, and conducting our program within our students’ high schools, DTS students discover that they have the tenacity to achieve their academic goals and the ability to tap their internal resources to approach the external world in a healthy and productive manner. The result is healthy, competent, confident scholars who are able to succeed in college and create fulfilling lives for themselves.
The Inside Out Principle informs our innovative Six-Touchpoint Program. Based on published studies and data, as well as on our own observations in working with DTS students since 2005, we have created a multi-faceted program that is high-touch and individualized. Six interconnected components build upon one another, fostering growth in all aspects of our students.
The Six Touchpoints:
- Health and Wellness Foundation
- Academic Support
- College Preparation
- Summer Programming
- Family Engagement
- Executive Functioning Skill Development
