Matthew*, a timid 9th grader, struggled to open up to others. During our weekly check-ins I created a space where he felt comfortable expressing all of his feelings, his hardships and also his accomplishments. I have seen his self-confidence grow tremendously and his mom even let me know she is relieved Matthew finally has someone he can confide in. I am honored I can be that person for Matthew.
