Ni Hao from China

Diana, member of the College 2020 Class and a sophomore at Franklin & Marshall College, is currently participating

in a 3-week intensive program called F&M in China: Chinese Life and Culture.  She is traveling and studying at cultural, historical, and archaeological sites throughout China, and visiting the Tibetan community in exile in Dharamsala, India.  The program includes site visits, lectures, and discussions with Chinese experts, in order to gain a greater understanding of the foundation, strengths, and challenges facing this growing world power. Diana reports that, so far, “China has been an amazing experience!” In just a couple of days I have visited the Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, the Great Wall, toured around Beijing, and I am currently in Xi’an! I have been able to try different kinds of authentic Chinese food, and finally learned to eat with chopsticks.  China is a beautiful country with traditional and contemporary culture all fused together.  One of the most memorable experiences has been writing a paper on the Forbidden City and then being able to see it in person. This has definitely been an eye opening experience.  I have learned so much about Chinese culture, both past and present. I’m very thankful for this opportunity.”
