Last Thursday, our rising high school freshmen completed Bridge to High School!

Bridge to High School is designed for our freshmen to mentally and academically prepare for high school. Over the course of just three weeks, students practiced stillness, tried new foods, made connections with their peers, learned not only how to graduate from high school, but also how to get into college, strengthened their math skills, exercised, and learned the ins and outs of their new school and so much more!

Also, a special thank you to @theplusmeproject for being a part of the Bridge to High School experience!

Now our rising freshmen are ready to take on the four years of high school!

We had our first book club meeting of the summer at Campos Tacos to discuss Sonora Reyes’ captivating debut novel The Lesbiana’s Guide to Catholic School. DTS students, ranging in age from 14-21, shared their thoughts and opinions regarding the book's impactful messages of self-love and self-acceptance. Many students also reflected on the interconnected themes of racism, homophobia, and intolerance, noting that the novel sadly mirrors our society’s reality.

DTS 11th graders returned on Friday after spending an incredible week backpacking through Yosemite National Park with Lasting Adventures!

College Ready summer programming for our soon to b

College Ready summer programming for our soon to be college Freshmen!

This week-long summer session helped DTS students prepare for the ins and outs of college life.

Students practiced time management skills, discussed financial literacy, and learned about resources available on all college campuses.

It also covered critical topics like racism in all its forms and other obstacles many POC face in college.

Overall it was a wonderful experience for this Class on their transition to college life, accompanied with bonding moments like s’mores night and a horseback riding trip!
