Wonderful Workshops

This Saturday, DTS conducted two separate parent workshops.  Mimi led College Knowledge: The Path from High School to College, which was open to all interested DTS parents.  A small group of parents attended, but this allowed those who came to have all of their questions answered.  It also created the space for parents to connect with each other and learn more about each other.

Leticia and Ocavio, parents of Alexa, member of the Hamilton 2021 Class, reflected:  “The workshop was very helpful and informative. We now understand the difference between the requirements needed to graduate from high school versus the requirements for a student to be accepted to college. College’s expectation/requirements are much higher than those of a high school.”

In a separate room, Stephanie conducted part one of our Transition to College series for parents of high school seniors.  For this workshop, Money Matters, parents of the Class of 2018 came together to learn about budgeting and financing a college education.  Stephanie reports, “We covered a lot of information including financial literacy, good debt vs. bad debt, borrowing wisely and budgeting for the first year of college.”

Parents of the Class of 2018, mark your calendars for the next Transition to College Workshop on January 20th, 2018.
