Young Women’s Conference at Brentwood School

Thank you to Brentwood School for inviting DTS students to the fourth biennial It’s Our Turn: Young Women’s Conference at Brentwood School.
Nearly 1,000 young women in grades 7-12 from schools and organizations throughout the Los Angeles area convened for an incredible day of presentations, panel discussions and breakout groups led by an accomplished group of female leaders across all fields, addressing the important challenges and opportunities most relevant to young women today.  The inspiring guests and presenters were writers, poets, entrepreneurs, doctors; they represented politics, fashion, media, sports, non-profits, healthcare, and much more.  DTS students enjoyed exploring rich and diverse topics, from self-defense to coding to the definition of beauty.

The goal of the conference was to empower, inspire, and seek wisdom and guidance from others.  Mission accomplished, according to the DTS students who attended.  In their own words:

” I am powerful and women are powerful and we are enough.”
-Kassandra

“No matter what background you come from, you can always get to the top.”
-Valerie

“The self defensive class taught me to be prepared and that it is ok to be self-aware when I walk home.”  -Chloe

“Even though we don’t know each other, there is still a sense of solidarity.”
-Leslie
